Florence: Day 2

"There's no place like home."-Wizard of Oz

I never realized how true that phrase was until today. As I was touring the school I will be taking classes at while I am here I got an awful feeling in my stomach. I began to realize how far away from home I really was. All of a sudden everything seemed to be a big deal, especially when a friend and I got lost finding our apartment. When I got back I had decided I wanted to go home. I thought I had made up my mind but I had forgotten that this has been my dream since high school. Giving up now before giving it a chance would probably end up being the biggest regret of my life.

After taking a nap, I went to get groceries... Got lost again... Then went out to dinner. At dinner I began to remember how amazing this city really is. The Catedral was across the street from us and it is a wonderful sight to see. The huge duomo can be spotted from most parts of the city. Now of course the beauty of the city definitely helped change my mind about staying on the trip, but I would say drinking my first glass of Italian wine was a good portion of why I decided I wanted to stay as well.
The wine was absolutely amazing and it definitely relaxed me. The dinner was also quite amazing, I had chicken with mushrooms and peas in a creamy tomato sauce. I decided this is my favorite restaurant in Florence. I will be back there PLENTY of times before I leave. The service was also very friendly and they were extremely accomodating to tourists. (You could view the menu in 6 languages. SIX.)
While I was scarfing down my delicious food a mariachi band began to play for us. They were playing La Cucaracha. Fun fact: that song is actually about a cockroach just walking around, a hispanic band made the song to make fun of Americans singing about cockroaches. Regardless, it was wonderful.
I finished the meal off with a shot of Limoncello. Italy is one of the most beautiful places I have seen, and I need to keep remembering that when I start to crave a burger and fries. I willl then go to this restaurant and eat some fries with a glass of wine and listen to the mariachi band.
