Classes Start

"Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today."-Malcolm X

I started my day by taking a tour of the Carducci Elementary School in Florence. We toured the facilities where they receive and prepare the food. It was extremely interesting to see all of the differences between our school lunches and Italy's school lunches. For example, they get mostly organic products and the products are brought in once every couple of days or once a week depending on the food. The kids have a dining area where they have placemats, silverware, and actual plates that they eat on. The Italians put so much emphasis on food that their preparation area is about five times the side of an American's food preparation area for a public school. It's amazing how much care they put into feeding a couple thousand students.

The day was pretty laid back. I started my classes, and then later went out to eat again and got a glass of wine (because that's what you do in Italy).
Then, I walked around the city after the sunset. The city is absolutely beautiful at night. We walked around and saw all of the amazing sights. One of them being the Duomo. It was so beautiful I had to take a picture.
To be honest that's all I really did today. Hopefully tomorrow will be a little more interesting!
